John W. Dunn founded Dunn Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1977 basically from scratch.  After graduating from Michigan State University, John moved to the Northwoods in the Fall of 1974 and began his insurance career selling individual health, life and Medicare supplements.  He soon decided that he wanted to be able to offer his growing clientele the additional property and casualty coverages that they were all asking him about.  This "one-stop" insurance service remains one of the primary goals of the agency to this day. Beginning in the early 1980's, John began to focus more of his attention on the group insurance market.   He began writing groups of all sizes, including self-funded groups of up to 350 employees.  Group insurance remains one of the specialties of the agency today, and one particular self-funded group has been represented and serviced by the agency continuously since 1982. In 1991, John was a founding member of the Insurance Marketing Group of  Wisconsin (IMAGE) (www.wisconsinagents.com), and served as its 1996-97 President. John has been active in many local and area youth, business, civic, church and conservation organizations.   Currently John serves as a founding board member of the Tomahawk Area Community Foundation, as well as a member of the board of the parent group Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin (www.cfoncw.org).  John has supported and attended continuing education programs and seminars to keep on top of insurance developments for the benefit of the agency's clients, including certification as a Best Practices Agency in 2002 by the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (www.iiaw.com). Joe Story recently joined the agency and has ten years of personal and commercial experience with Sentry Insurance in Ohio.  Joe was one of Sentry's top agents in the East-Central Region of Ohio and Michigan.   He holds the professional designation of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow.  Joe and his wife Gerri have been vacationing in the Tomahawk area for over thirty years and have finally achieved their goal of living in the Northwoods!  Joe graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati with a degree in Marketing Management.  After enlisting in the army and serving in Viet Nam, Joe continued in our country's service on five continents.  Joe graduated from the US Army Sergeant's Major Academy in Ft. Bliss, Texas, and retired as a Sergeant Major in 1993.  He began his second career with Sentry Insurance Company in Ohio where he sold and serviced Auto, Home, Life, Health and Group insurance products to commercial and personal clients.  Joe officially retired (for a second time!) from Sentry in August of 2003.  He then brought his experience to Dunn Insurance Agency.  Joe Story makes a great addition to our agency team.

In January of 1997 Andrea S. Michaud, ACSR, joined the agency.  Andrea began her  insurance career typing policies for Classified Insurance Company in Milwaukee in 1965.  Since then she has worked as a licensed agent for some of the most respected independent insurance agencies in the greater Milwaukee area.  When her husband took early retirement and they moved to their long-time summer home in Tomahawk, Dunn Insurance became the  fortunate beneficiary of her warm personality and extensive experience.  Today, Andrea is the office manager and  handles personal lines, business owners and personal life and health protection.  E-mail Andrea at andream@dunnin.com.
